Poet Joseph Jackson is the Executive Director of Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition and the Youth and Community Facilitator with Maine Inside Out. He spent two decades in prison. This poem, written for Freedom & Captivity, narrates his personal experience in relation to the theme.
