Reimagine Belonging: Community Care and Power in a Pandemic

Reimagine Belonging: Community Care and Power in a Pandemic
  • Maine Inside Out

Recorded on December 8, 2021.

In her poem, “Reimagine Belonging,” Stacy Perez invited us to imagine and move together towards a just and healthy future:

“In a world where it’s to each their own

People are hungry and homeless

Praying for and chasing a place to call home.

Mental health, homelessness and hunger

is the epidemic on these streets.

The sad part is those who suffer from it are forced to sleep under trees because what’s offered for it doesn’t meet the need.

Holding a sign not begging but pleading please, just remember me…

Imagine a world where families can get what they need, find a little peace, clean sheets, food to eat, a place to get a good night’s sleep and a good job for the upkeep. Mental health services, job, and life skills training on repeat.

Won’t you walk with me and reimagine belonging?”

On Wednesday, we launched a new micro-website about our work called Reimagine Belonging. The site features original film, performances, and information about our behind-the-scenes work to support each other, grow the organization, and practice transformative justice. Check out the site and we would love to hear from you! Thank you for walking alongside us and we are honored to walk alongside each of you.
