Welcome to 2030
- Eno Laget (II)
pochoir with hand embellishments on reclaimed real estate sign board, 2021.
Welcome to 2030 is a large pochoir print with hand embellishments. It is an anatomy of intolerance. Themes are structural racism, voting rights, the surveillance state, marginalization, scapegoating, islamophobia and the future of late-stage capitalism. In Arabic, bottom right, it says “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” This is a quote from MLK Jr.
Eno Laget works as an independent artist in Detroit, Michigan. For the past dozen years he has operated a mobile, limited-resource printmaking experience dedicated to the pochoir (stencil) process. His Two Blacks Studio teaches multi-color stencil making and printing as a community-based, socially conscious creative outreach. He is a resident artist at Recycle Here, a resource recovery facility in the NW Goldberg neighborhood of Detroit. He is also a member of the artist/maker collective Make:Art:Work and the faith-based oneartscollective.org in Detroit.
